Architect, professor at the E.T.S. of Architecture in Granada (Spain). He has participated in exhibitions such as the Spanish Architecture Biennale (1993, 2010, 2018 and 2023), the Venice Architecture Biennale (2000 and 2016), the Aga Khan Museum, the Serralves Foundation and the MoMA in New York, where his work is part of the collection. Winner of the VIII Ibero-American Architecture Biennial 2011. That same year, he won the Atrio de la Alhambra competition together with architect Álvaro Siza. He was curator of the 13th Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU, 2016). He is the author of the books La tradición innovada. Escritos sobre regresión y modernidad (Arquia 2014, FAD Prize for Thought and Criticism) and Los jardines de la Alhambra (Comares 2022, XVI BEAU Prize, 2023). He develops a line of research on heritage and landscape. His architectural laboratory is located in the San Isidro sugar factory in Granada. He made the short film Un encuentro, which tells the story of this place. He is currently directing the project to restore this industrial complex.
