Marusa Zorec studied at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, where she has been teaching since 1993. In 1996, she founded her own firm: arrea architects.


Her main works are interventions in existing structures, often historic and protected, opening up forgotten places to the public. Some examples are the Chapel in the Franciscan Monastery and the New Library in an Old Castle in Ravne, Koroskem. He renovated the Vetrinje mansion in Maribor and remodeled the castle annex in Ormož. His office is also working on public buildings, such as the new wooden youth hostel, a secondary school in Ravne and the new cooking school in Maribor. The office renovated the Plečnik house and the former Hotel Švicarija was transformed into a new art center. The office presented an installation at the Venice Biennale in 2018.


Marusa Zorec also works with the preservation of 20th century modern heritage and in 2001 participated in the project Slovene modern architecture buildings 1945-1970. The Arrea architecture office has received several national awards.
