In the Old Refectory of the Monastery of Santa Cruz, now the Sala da Cidade [City Room], we present the spectres that do not figure in our history books. These are popular stories that tell of the daily lives of the underprivileged classes and contrast with the hall’s sumptuous architecture, a chorus of silenced voices echoing from the walls as we walk among them.

The Sala da Cidade will open exceptionally on June 30 (Sunday), the last day of the Biennale.
