Eu Trago os Cravos na Garganta
8, 13 APR, 21:30
Eu Trago os Cravos na Garganta is the provisional title for an artistic project to be presented at the Teatro de Bolso of the Teatro de Estudantes da Universidade de Coimbra, the oldest university theatre in Europe. With text and staging by Maria Quintelas, the proposal voices the memory of the Fascist regimes experienced in Portugal, Brazil and Italy and proposes, at the top of its voice, a deconstruction of gesture, action and words whispered by totalitarian dogma. Those on stage — actors and actresses who are students at the University of Coimbra — are the sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons and great-granddaughters of these pasts that are stuck in their throats and still try to silence the voices of freedom. But Eu Trago Cravos na Garganta [I Bring Carnations in My Throat] orders us to "get away from there and shut up" and presents itself in April with all the meanings that the month still brings us. And today, more than ever, after 50 years, we have to wake up the Voice of Liberty.
