Senhor Azul

Senhor azul [Blue Lord] is a small plaster sculpture (20 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm) made up of the connection between a human figure and a reproduction of a volcanic rock taken from the coastline of the island of São Miguel, Azores. By combining these two elements, the sculpture aims to evoke the idea of an individual with his head in a cloud, with a surreal character that emphasises the symbolism of an individual with his head far from the plane of reality and close to fantasy, dreams and possibility. In another dimension, Senhor Azul is a work that is entirely related to its territory. Its colour is analogous to the inevitable presence of the sea, the rock to its place of origin (volcanic activity), and the cloud - generated by re-appropriating a basalt rock and thinking about it - to the well-known haze that demarcates the environment on land.
