Space, body and territory as the artist’s material
25 MAY, 14:00–18:00
Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Nova
Calçada Santa Isabel"Emigrant, immigrant, foreigner, three words that construct and deconstruct me, sustain and confuse me, and that can speak of the past, the present and the future simultaneously, because they reflect what I am, what I have been and how this condition, which will never leave me, may permeate my future as a person and as an artist. They contain my current relationships with my country, Portugal (the place of departure), and the place that welcomes me, São Paulo (the place of arrival). Still, they also announce a third space (which concerns the foreigner), that of the between, the border, the margin, which will henceforth be my place, a place between "here and there"." (Inês Moura, 2013)
Inês Moura has a degree in Painting-Fine Arts (FBAUL, 2009) and a master's degree in Arts and Artistic Processes (IA-UNESP, 2013). After almost 12 years living in São Paulo, where she also developed her career in education, having spent eight years teaching arts and creative thinking in international schools, she returned to Portugal in November 2020. Since then, she has dedicated herself to artistic creation in her studio. In 2009, she was awarded the BES Revelation prize and has participated in national and international exhibitions. Her work is in private collections (AA Contemporary Art Collection; Aj Collection; Nuno Maia Collection) and public collections (CAV - Centre for Visual Arts - Encontros de Fotografia; CAPC - Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra).
