Text and image poetics
15 JUN, 14:00–18:00
Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Nova
Calçada Santa IsabelThis workshop aims to present the artist's production, based on the text/image relationship, and, through this presentation, to bring the audience closer to some recurring issues in contemporary art, addressing both the idealisation/conception and the production of the work. As a practical part, creative exercises will be proposed that evoke this word/image intersection. Through music and texts, the aim is to lead the audience to construct texts and images themselves - concluding that creativity surrounds us, can be used in everyday life and is accessible to everyone.
Rosana Ricalde (Niterói, 1971) graduated from the School of Fine Arts, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She lives and works in Coimbra. Through her practice, Rosana Ricalde has incorporated elements of text and used calligraphy to construct forms that make us question the boundaries between visual poetry and drawing. Her works are part of international public and private collections such as: Museu de Arte Contemporânea Dragão do Mar, Fortaleza, Brazil; Museu de Arte Moderna Aloísio Magalhães, Recife, Brazil; Coleção Gilberto Chateaubriand, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Coleção Banco Itaú SA, São Paulo, Brazil; Coleção Sesc Nacional, Brazil; Coleccíon Patricia Phelps de Cisneros NY/Caracas; Colección FEVAL, Spain; Colección Otazu, Spain; and Fundação PLMJ, Lisboa, Portugal.
